The challenge
Most roofing websites are years old, slow on a phone, and buried under a template someone picked in a hurry. A homeowner with a leak doesn't wait — they hit the back button and ring whoever loads first. The job here was to show a roofer exactly what the alternative looks like, without asking them to imagine it.
The solution
I built Acme Roofing the same way I'd build a real client's site: hand-coded, no page builder, no theme. Every page is written around a single question a homeowner is actually asking, and every route back to the phone number is short. Nothing loads that doesn't earn its place.
The result
It opens before a homeowner gives up on it, and Google puts fast mobile pages higher — so it turns up in the search and it's still there when they arrive. The scores below are the receipt: 100 for Performance, Best Practices and SEO, 96 for Accessibility.
Acme Roofing isn't a real company. It's a demo — a complete, working roofing website I built so you can see the finished article instead of a portfolio screenshot and a promise.
Everything on it is real except the name. The pages are the ones a roofing business actually needs, the copy is written the way I'd write yours, and the whole thing is deployed and measurable. Open it on your phone — that's where nearly every roofing enquiry starts, and it's where most roofing sites fall over.
Built for the homeowner with a leak
Someone searching for a roofer is rarely browsing. They have a problem, often an urgent one, and they're comparing you against whoever else Google put on the screen. That shapes every decision on this site: the phone number is never more than a glance away, the services are named the way people search for them, and there's no clever navigation to work out.
Why the speed is worth paying attention to
Two reasons, and neither of them is the score itself.
The first is that Google ranks fast mobile pages higher. A slow site doesn't just annoy the people who reach it — it keeps you off the first page, so most of them never reach it at all. You lose the job before anyone has seen your name.
The second is what happens to the ones who do arrive. They're standing in a driveway looking at storm damage with two or three roofers open in different tabs. Nobody waits for a page to load in that situation. They go back and ring whoever answered first, and you never find out it happened.
That's what the build is for. No page builder, no marketplace theme — those save time up front and cost you speed forever. Images are sized properly, scripts stay lean, and the markup is clean enough that Google and screen readers both get a straight answer.
The receipts, measured on the live site rather than a local build: 100 Performance, 100 Best Practices, 100 SEO, 96 Accessibility.
What this means for your site
If you like what Acme Roofing does, your site does the same things with your name, your work and your service area on it. Same build, same speed, same attention — the demo exists so there's no guesswork about what you're paying for.
